LDS Contradictions……….

Can Murder Be Forgiven?

LDS says……….in Doctrines and Covenants,  Section 42:18,

 

And now, behold, I speak unto the church. Thou shalt not kill; and he that kills shall not have forgiveness in this world, nor in the world to come.

 

LDS also says………..in the Book of Mormon, 3 Nephi 30:2,

 

Turn, all ye Gentiles, from your wicked ways; and repent of your evil doings, of your lyings and deceivings, and of your whoredoms, and of your secret abominations, and your idolatries, and of your murders, and your priestcrafts, and your envyings, and your strifes, and from all your wickedness and abominations, and come unto me, and be baptized in my name, that ye may receive a remission of your sins, and be filled with the Holy Ghost, that ye may be numbered with my people who are of the house of Israel.

 

Which one of these LDS teachings is right? According to the Holy Bible we know that  “

no murderer hath eternal life abiding in him.” (I John 3:15b), yet at the same time if a man repent, he will be forgiven.

 

My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And

if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous: And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.                     1 John 2:1-2

 

   Wherefore I say unto you,

All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men

: but the blasphemy against the Holy Ghost shall not be forgiven unto men. And whosoever speaketh a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but whosoever speaketh against the Holy Ghost, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this world, neither in the world to come.

                                  Matthew 12:31-32

 

The Scripture passage above states the one and only unpardonable sin, which is blasphemy against the Holy Ghost. And it has nothing at all to do with taking someone’s life.

 

One must be able to be forgiven for committing murder, unless the teaching of the “

Blood Atonement

” is still in effect, where Mormons believe that the Blood of Jesus Christ is not sufficient enough to atone for certain sins.

 

 

 

 

 

Tenth Mormon prophet and president Joseph Fielding Smith wrote,

“Man may commit certain grievous sins – according to his light and knowledge -that will place him beyond the reach of the atoning blood of Christ. If then he would be saved, he must make sacrifice of his own life… (Doctrines of Salvation

, 1:135,138).

 

Murder is one of the Crimes Warranting Blood Atonement

 

 “I am opposed to hanging, even

if a man kill another, I will shoot him, or cut off his head, spill his blood on the ground and let the smoke ascend thereof up to God…” (Joseph Smith, Documentary History of the Church

5:296).

 

The “theory” or “practice” of shedding a brother’s blood to atone for his sins only begins a vicious cycle of killing. If a man shed another’s blood to atone for their sin, who in turn will shed his?

Exodus 2:11-12

 

Apostle Paul;

 

And Saul was consenting unto his death. And at that time there was a great persecution against the church….. (the stoning of Stephen)               

Acts 8:1a

 

King David;

 

And David said to Solomon, My son, as for me, it was in my mind to build an house unto the name of the Lord my God: But the word of the Lord came to me, saying, Thou hast shed blood abundantly, and hast made great wars: thou shalt not build an house unto my name, because thou hast shed much blood upon the earth in my sight.
